SCART to Phono plugs
Dear Sirs,
I would like to connect a DVD player to my LCD. The DVD player has a SCART output socket. I cannot get a SCART plug into the back of the TV set because it is fixed to the wall and there is not enough room. However, there are three Phono sockets on the side of the TV set, coloured Yellow (picture?), White (audio?) and Red (audio?). A neighbour said that I could use a SCART to 3 Phono plugs cable to connect the two machines. I have therefore bought your cable type Art.690883, but I notice that the plugs are coloured Red, Blue and Green. Before I connect it, have I got the right cable and, if not, then please will you tell me what I should have?
Many thanks,
Neil Shepherd-Smith
Hi Neil,
The 690883 is indeed the wrong cable for your requirements alas - that is SCART to RGB ‘component’ video cable. What you need is SCART to ‘composite’ video and audio cable (yellow, red & white) Art. 680190 (type the number into the search point at the top right of our web page).
Of note ‘composite’ video (yellow terminal) is the lowest quality video connection, so if you have the red green and blue RCA outputs on your DVD player these would give a better picture to your TV. You would still need to hook up audio as well, which while making for a lot of cables will give better performance.
Hope that helps, Neil.
Best regards,
Richard
