Will my speakers fit an AVATAR?
Hi
I have an LCD TV, however, I am not sure if I am able to mount my centre speaker in the unit. Is there any way the plasma bracket can be raised to allow a 30cm high unit to sit on the shelf but not obscure the screen or can the shelf below be made deeper?
Regards,
John
Hi John,
That`s a good question John - and I am not sure I have a simple answer. Working from the last bit of your query upwards, the top shelf can not be lowered as it forms part of the upright stability mechanism for the mountain arm.
I am not familiar with the fitting of that particular LCD model but if it is similar to the recent 42 and 50 LCDs it uses two vertical arrangements of mounting lugs which would give you quite a bit of flexibility in height positioning on the Avatar. The only disadvantage might be that the lowest portion of the Avatar’s vertical brackets might extend a little below the base of the TV which would not look great - although if you have a great big speaker ion front that is probably a moot point.
Actually, I have just had a look at the 3D view of this model on the manufacture`s website (very cool feature!) and looking at its VESA fitting on the rear panel I am 99.9% sure you will be able to get more than enough clearance for a 30cm tall speaker placed on the top shelf. The VESA holes are very low on the panel - meaning the TV itself be higher on the stand itself.
Just as a tip - investigate also purchasing a sheet of high density rubber that you can cut to size a little larger than the speaker itself - and place between the speaker and the shelf. In past installations I have found this makes the centre channel speaker sound better than four rubber sticky feet as it better decouples it from the glass shelf without making the speaker wobbly.
Best regards,
Richard
